Do you both have sonic r? If so I could teach you to hack that very easily. Its just like using paint.

This isn't exactally a hack but it is kind of interesting. It is debug mode in Sonic 1 for Genesis. To activate it, press Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right C, Start then hold A. Continue holding A until the game starts. The time and rings now display frame and objects respectivly. Press B to change into an object, A to change the object, and C to place the object. You can't die by enemies in this mode but you can fall, drown, and be crushed. This is also an easy way to get all of the emralds (if you're just having fun). Just turn yourself into a ring, place as many of them as you can (you will know when it stops because the object count stops going up), collect them all, turn yourself back into an object, and just go through the bouns ring at the end (as an object, you can go through walls). Then, as soon as you get into the bonus stage, turn yourself into an object and float yourself into the emrald zone and you're done

I never thought of using debug mode to float to the Emeralds. That's cool.
